Beyond the Story - From the Inside Out #3

Many people who find their way to this kind of work have already done a few or more things to feel better. Therapy, coaching, self-inquiry - sometimes years of it. They often understand themselves well. They often can name their patterns, trace where things come from, explain what happens when they get triggered.

And yet in their body, in the actual felt experience of daily life, something hasn't quite shifted. The same tightness. The same reactivity. The same exhaustion that insight alone doesn't seem to touch.

This episode explores why. And specifically why some of what we carry lives beyond what language and conversation can fully reach.

What this episode is about

I want to say clearly before anything else: This isn't a criticism of therapy or talk-based approaches. They offer something real and genuinely valuable. Many people I work with - in somatic coaching in Groningen and in Eenrum, the Ayurveda consults and in our

oom - have done meaningful therapeutic work. That work matters.

But there is a layer of what we carry that words and insight alone can't always fully reach. And that's what this episode explores.

I talk about implicit memory, what it is, and why so much of what we carry was stored before we had words for it. About why you don't have to tell the full story in somatic work for something real to shift. And about attunement, what it means to be truly met without agenda, and why that quality of presence matters as much as any technique.

I also share where I am in my own Somatic Experiencing practitioner training and how what I'm learning is already changing how I show up in my coaching work and in the Mysore room.

Who this episode is for

If you feel like you understand yourself really well and somehow still feel the same in your body - this one is for you.

It's the third episode in the mini-series From the Inside Out - on the body, the nervous system, and what creates lasting change.
