SCHEDULE & WHAT WE WILL DO:
1. Morning Practice (8:00–10:30h)
Guided kriya, pranayama, and workshop-style Ashtanga practice centering on harmonizing opposing forces in posture, breath, and energy, cultivating deeper awareness throughout the practice.
We will explore:
Expansion and grounding as embodied anchors, and how to recognize and refine these qualities in our practice
Practical ways to integrate expansion and grounding in every pose (principles that can be applied in all asanas)
Prana and apana in practice, and how to foster and harmonize these seemingly opposing forces
Working with the opposing forces of the breath, allowing subtle micromovements and using both inhale and exhale to support the posture
2. Late Morning Session (11:30–14:00h)
A blend of philosophydrawing from yoga & Ayurveda philosophy as well as polyvagal theory, embodied exploration, and hands-on asana lab to deepen understanding and integration of opposing forces for a more harmonious experience
We will explore:
How yoga philosophy, Ayurveda, and polyvagal theory illuminate our natural tendency to lean toward one side of an apparent opposite, and how integration supports greater harmony in practice and in life
Right effort (skilful presence) and surrender, in contrast to unskilful effort and tension, grounded in yoga philosophy
Asana principles and hands-on assists as a way to deepen embodied understanding, cultivating greater stability and spaciousness
