Ashtanga Mysore Yoga Newcomer Immersion in Groningen - Build a practice this is truly yours

7 September - 6 October, 2026

SCOPE: There's a difference between attending a yoga class and actually building a personalized yoga practice. This newcomer immersion into Ashtanga Mysore is designed to support you in establishing a personalized yoga practice. For one month starting September 7, you'll have unlimited access to our regular Mysore classes, plus four dedicated Monday workshops woven with philosophy, exploring the foundations of this method and practice, as well as practice. You will receive lots of 1-on-1 guidance inside a group we keep intentionally small, so you're genuinely seen and supported, whether you're brand new to yoga, switching styles, or a yoga teacher ready to be held for once. Curious? Here's everything you need to know

For a lot of us, life can feel scattered and full, one thing pulling into the next before you've caught up with the last. And underneath that, there's often a quiet pull toward structure again... not one more thing to keep up with, but something that actually holds us and reconnects us to our aliveness and rhythm.

Not another class to attend, but a practice you build step-by-step under 1-on-1 guidance.

This September, we're opening a small newcomer immersion into Ashtanga Mysore practice: A full month to actually feel what a regular practice does, rather than just hear about it. Practice as often as fits you, up to six mornings a week, anchored by four Monday workshops with Maxi. Not aiming for impressive postures or personal records... but for something more essential: Building a practice that supports your life and is genuinely, entirely yours.

Do you recognize this?

  • You've thought about starting a yoga practice, but classes always felt either too generic or too intense, or you tried yoga online but it never quite worked for you

  • You've practiced other styles of yoga and now you're curious about Ashtanga Mysore Yoga, you want more depth, more consistency, a real container to grow in

  • You're a yoga teacher yourself and somewhere along the way you stopped being seen and taught, you give so much but nobody sees and supports your practice anymore

  • You recognize the pattern of pushing, achieving, proving, while running on empty inside. Or the opposite one: Staying small, hanging back, waiting until you feel "ready enough" to begin

  • Autumn is coming, and you want to reconnect to your inner rhythm instead of feeling scattered or not enough all the time

What this immersion offers you:

  • Lots of personal, 1-on-1 guidance - even inside a group setting, so you are really seen by the teachers and the practice actually meets you where you are

  • A grounded introduction to the Ashtanga method: Breath, the foundations of the practice and the philosophy underneath it

  • A full month of consistent practice, so you can feel and experience what a regular and not random practice can offer your body and mind

  • A sincere and empowering start to establishing and progressing your personal yoga practice

  • A supportive, non-hierarchical community where everyone is on their own path

  • Room to ask questions and go deeper, at a pace that doesn't overload you

There's a difference between attending a class and building a practice. A weekly class, led by someone else, is lovely - but a practice is different. It's something you cultivate and take responsibility for, not something you consume. Something you learn to build, maintain, and adjust with the guidance of an experienced teacher, as you move through the seasons and (sometimes or often) chaos of life. Not a fad or quick fix but  something that can really support you, for the long run.

What's included

  • 4 x 60-minute newcomer workshops: one every Monday morning for four weeks (starting September 7), taught by Maxi, right inside our regular Mysore room (while the rest of the room continues their own practice in the other part of the space, with one of our other teachers). Each workshop is carefully crafted to help you connect with the philosophy and the major building blocks of the practice: breath, inner orientation, gaze - and then explore those principles in practice itself, not just in theory. The guided practice each week also helps you get started and go steadily deeper into your own Mysore practice sequence, so you leave with both the confidence and the practical understanding to keep going on your own

  • Unlimited access to all regular Ashtanga Mysore classes from 7 September - 6 October

  • A place in a warm, supportive community of practitioners

How often should you practice?

We recommend joining at least three times a week during the immersion (either in the shala or online), that's roughly what it takes for the benefits to really land (a 20-30 minute practice counts).

If you're unsure, reach out. It's often a rigid, all-or-nothing mindset that makes us think we have to show up for 60-90 minutes every day... which frankly isn't sustainable when life is already full. Practice is meant to fit your life, and that can look different for everyone.

Who this immersion is for

In my work with nervous system regulation and coaching, I see a pattern again and again: People who have learned to push through, override what their body is telling them, and keep performing even when they're running (towards) empty and living mostly from the neck up.

A personalized and regular yoga practice can be a way back in: Through bringing awareness to breath, a felt sense of gravity and being held by the ground beneath you, through slowly reconnecting to proprioception (sensing where your body is in space) and interoception (sensing what's happening inside it). That's often what creates enough safety in the body to actually be present in it again, rather than just managing it from a distance.

This immersion is for anyone who's been curious about establishing that kind of personalized practice, but never quite found their way in.

This immersion is for:

Complete beginners:  Mysore-style, one-on-one teaching is genuinely one of the safest, kindest ways to start a yoga practice. You're guided step by step, at your own capacity. Nothing to keep up with, nothing to prove.

Those with some yoga experience: Maybe you've practiced other styles here and there, and now you're craving something more personal and regular, not random: Real consistency and depth. This immersion is a genuine introduction to what a daily(ish) Mysore practice actually feels like... without pushing, without performance.

Yoga teachers: You hold space for others constantly. This is a chance to be held, seen and supported yourself: To receive guidance, be part of a community and deepen your own understanding from the inside.

And anyone who is curious about a practice that can support you through the ups and downs and seasons of life.

No previous yoga experience required. Everyone is welcome.

"What I value most is the feeling of mental and energetic homecoming, the personal assists, the consistent schedule and the clear instructions." Ravi Soekhai

One last thing

This is about giving yourself four weeks to feel what a steady, personal practice can actually do... for your body and for the rest of your life too.

And to be honest, this immersion isn't the only way to begin. You're always welcome to simply try a first Mysore class (€15), or start with a trial month (€99) instead. Those paths just won't include the four workshops, with all the philosophy and guidance woven through them. In our experience, there can be something really lovely about starting alongside other newcomers, finding your way in together, rather than alone.
