Ashtanga Yoga Weekend: Anchored Within

21-23 August at Yoga Kula Emden (GER) with Maxi

Step away from daily demands and immerse yourself in a three-day getaway designed to help you feel grounded, present, and resilient.

Anchored Within blends Ashtanga Yoga, Ayurveda, and somatic wisdom to help you reconnect with your body’s innate guidance, awaken your energy, and cultivate a sense of inner stability amidst life’s chaos.

Through a thoughtful mix of practice, explorations and discussions, we’ll explore how Eastern philosophies (Ashtanga Yoga, Ayurveda) and nervous system work  - can support you in tuning into your body, restoring balance and providing anchor within in a chaotic world. Talks are lighthearted and practical, with plenty of space for experiential practices to land deeply in the body.

Set in a lovingly cared-for vacation home and yoga shala, built from natural materials and surrounded by the serene countryside near the dyke, this getaway invites you to slow down, breathe, and simply be.

Beautiful outdoor spaces and a peaceful environment create the perfect container for reflection, movement, and presence.

I want to reserve my space:

Fantastic! I had a wonderful retreat. Maxi is such an inspiring teacher. She can really show you the subtle layers of yoga. I would definitely recommend a workshop, lesson or retreat with Maxi.

Danna

I highly recommend the retreats organized by Maxi. They combine different perspectives and a wealth of practical knowledge, helping you deepen and broaden your understanding of yoga. For me, the retreats have been a valuable extension of my regular practice in the shala.

Liana

I gained a better understanding of how to create calmness during practice, how to let go of expectations and how to settle more easily into the present moment. These are things that continue to support me, both on and off the mat.

The retreat also brought together a wonderful group of people. It was inspiring to hear different stories, perspectives and experiences. Some of the connections were so meaningful that we are still in touch today!

What I appreciated most was the balance between learning, practising, reflecting and simply being. The programme was well structured, yet there was plenty of space to relax, enjoy nature and recharge.

I returned home feeling more grounded, more aware and with practical tools that I still use in daily life. For anyone looking for a retreat that goes beyond yoga alone and offers real depth in a warm and welcoming environment, I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

At 70, I never felt too old or out of place in the Ashtanga Mysore Style. From the first workshop with Maxi, I felt at home. Her loving, personal guidance and creative adjustments make practice a joy - I come and leave the studio happy. I now practice at home almost daily and see real progress in strength and flexibility. It's amazing what you can do when you open yourself to it!

Iñez Bolle

Skillful teaching, gentle adjustments, for all ashtanga lovers beginner and advanced.

Maxi is one of a kind. With kindness and compassion she not only makes Ashtanga Yoga accessible to every-body, but she helps you to build a sustainable yoga practice that is really your own and uniquely fitted to your needs. She is a wise and gentle soul with a vast knowledge of yoga philosophy, Ayurveda and somatics who has created a loving and welcoming community at Bhumi Yoga.

Lotte van Velzen

I have been practicing at Bhumi Yoga for the past four years - always lovely and worthwhile! I especially appreciate how Maxi makes all the poses of Ashtanga Yoga so accessible for everyone and anyone. Also, not one class passes by without sharing laughter and kind words. I’d recommend coming here to anyone who is curious to try a different and more personal approach to yoga.

Sarah Stoetzner

A wonderful place to practice Ashtanga yoga, I can’t recommend it enough. I’ve been practicing for almost a year now and I notice much more calm and centeredness in my yoga practice but also my daily life. Maxi is a great teacher and the Mysore style means that you always get personal attention and adjustments. Highly recommended!

Thank you for this program! I am so happy that I decided to join it, I haven’t been rested like that for so long already. It is such a beautiful state of mind to be!

I don’t know how you did it but just doing one of the practices almost every evening (20min), I feel I have a complete reset of my nervous system.

My friend couldn’t recognize me when we met today, because I was relaxed. He asked me to tell him when the next workshop will be because he wants to experience this deep rest as well.

Kristina

This program is truly a wonderful experience. The practices are very accessible. Moreover, Maxi guides you through each pose with a lot of care, which I found to be very grounding and relaxing.

You can incorporate the practices easily into your daily life, which is very nice if you have a busy schedule

Renée

I had been feeling restless the last couple of months and this program turned out to be exactly what I needed. During the practices, I didn't even notice time passing. Already, after ten minutes a calm sank in. My mind went quiet. How great!

Maxi has the extraordinary gift to guide you safely through all of the practise. I felt taken care of.

If you ever have the chance to do this program allow yourself this treat.  Now, I can easily access these practices alongside Maxi's guidance in them and offer myself calm, the quiet. It has helped me make clear decisions that will also shape the coming year for me.
